Addison Rae Easterling, better known as Addison Rae (born October 6, 2000) (@addisonre) is a social media personality, singer, actress and perfumer.[1] She rose to prominence in 2020, where she used to post dance and lip-sync videos.[1] Addison Rae was named the highest-earning TikToker in the world by Forbes magazine in August 2020.[1]

Early and Personal Life[]

Addison Rae Easterling was born on October 6, 2000, in Lafayette, Louisiana, USA, she belongs to Sheri Easterling and Monty Lopez.[1][2][3][4] She grew up in Lafayette with her two younger brothers, Lucas and Enzo Lopez. Addison Rae began competitive dancing at the age of six and competed in various competitions across the country. During high school, she attended Calvary Baptist Academy and participated in gymnastics and cheerleading.[1][5][6][7]

Addison attended Louisiana State University for three months before dropping out to pursue her TikTok career in Los Angeles.[6] Initially, she intended to pursue a career in sports broadcasting and work as a sports activities broadcaster. Addison has previously said she'd like to finish her degree in the future, but at that time she was focused on TikTok.[6]

July 2019 - July 2020: TikTok career[]

In 2019, Rae joined TikTok as a joke whilst babysitting. The video later went viral and Addison rose to fame. She then continued posting videos, in which her account gained millions of followers and thousands of people decided to recreate her videos. In August 2020, Rae was revealed as the highest-earning TikToker in the world by Forbes magazine.[1] Rae's rapid success drew the attention of several talent agencies, in which she was signed to WME in January 2020.[1][5]

July 2020 - Present: Music and Acting[]

In 2020, Rae was cast as the voice for “Marnie” in the animated film Spy Cat. In 2021, Addison made her lead debut in the Netflix Original “He’s All That”, which is a gender flipped reboot of the 1999 film “She’s All That”. The movie received unfavourable reviews, with critics claiming that there was no chemistry between Addison and her co-star Tanner Buchanan. In 2023, Rae was revealed to star in Eli Roth's Slasher movie, Thanksgiving. The film is based on Roth's Grindhouse Trailer, in which Addison will play a leading role. She was also revealed to star in “Animal Friends” alongside acts such as Ryan Reynolds and Jason Momoa

Addison Rae made her musical debut in March 2021 with the release of her debut single, “Obsessed”. Despite being universally panned by fans and critics alike, the dance-pop song peaked at number four on New Zealand's Hot Singles chart. It also charted on the Canadian Hot 100, the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles, the Irish Singles Chart, and the UK Independent Singles Chart.

On the day of its release, the song's music video became the sixth-most trending video on YouTube. She appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 26, 2021, and performed the song. While Taylor Swift was cited as an influence for Obsessed, Addison Rae cited Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Britney Spears as musical influences.[1]

In July 2021, For her future music, Rae spent time in the studio with Charli XCX as well as songwriter Sarah Hudson, who helped pen Dua Lipa's “Levitating” and “Physical.” She's also worked with songwriters Madison Love, Tia Scola and Brett “Leland” McLaughlin and producers Benny Blanco and Blake Slatkin, who all worked on “Obsessed.”

In 2022, a bunch of demos from Rae's “lost album” gained traction online after the leaking. The songs gained a cult following and were praised on Twitter with Rae being labelled as a potential pop princess. Rae received comparisons to stars such as Britney Spears and Selena Gomez. In August 2023, Rae released her debut EP, “AR” which was made up of 5 of the songs intended to be on her unreleased album. The track “2 Die 4” featured a collaboration with English singer, Charli XCX and went viral on TikTok.

In 2020, Rae launched her own cosmetics line, Item Beauty, which sold a variety of products including moisturizers, cleansing balms, lip oil, and concealers, among other makeup items however, unfortunately in 2022, the brand was pulled by Sephora as Rae failed to promote the products on her social media. In 2021, Rae took to social media to reveal that she would be launching her own fragrance line. Rae worked directly with perfumers to develop the agents and the line sold $14 million in its first year of launching. Since 2021, ARF has produced 4 fragrances, each with a color changing bottle, which is inspired by mood rings.

Forbes published a report in August 2020, revealing that Rae earned $5 million in the last year through June from her various endorsement deals and merchandise, making her the highest-earning TikTok star.[8] Rae's TikTok success has led her to work with companies such as Reebok, L'Oréal, Hollister and American Eagle.
