Aidan Kohn-Murphy, also known as @aidanpleasestoptalking (formerly @politicaljew) is an American TikToker who mainly focuses on politics, as well as occasional comedic videos. He is also known for being the founder of the political youth organization Gen-Z for Change.
Popularity[]
Gen-Z for Change[]
Aidan is the founder and executive director of Gen-Z for Change, a political youth organization originally called TikTok for Biden, that was founded in late 2020 to encourage users on TikTok to vote for Joe Biden and other Democratic politicians, along with promoting social justice and progressive politics. To focus on the organization, Aidan took a one-month leave from his school.[1]
Paul revere[]
In December 2020, Aidan made a video talking about how, on famousbirthdays.com, he had a higher status than the 18th century American revolutionist Paul Revere. His video would lead to users trying to boost Paul Revere's status above Aidan's, leading to a continuing series on Aidan's account.[2][3]
Westfield Montgomery Mall[]
In July 2021, after wearing a penguin costume in the Westfield Montgomery mall to record an ad for Converse, Aidan was approached by a security guard telling him that he couldn't wear the costume because of mall policy. This would turn into an inside joke on Aidan's account, with Aidan also organizing a protest at the mall.[4]
Marc D'amelio[]
In mid-2021, Aidan would mock Marc D'amelio, father of Charli D'amelio, after he had stated that his Italian ethnicity made him a person of color.[citation needed] He would also use a parody account with the username @themarcdameilo, however it would later get banned.[5] A popular hashtag he used to mock Marc was 'marcdameliopridemonth'.
Lauren Kohn[]
His mom, Lauren Kohn,[6] also has a TikTok account called @bowl.lady, although the videos are usually, if not always, recorded by Aidan.
Personal life[]
He is from Washington DC. Prior to his TikTok career, he was an underage journalist.[7][8] He has stated that he and Bella Thier, another TikToker, are cousins,[9] and has also stated that he is cousins with the political commentator Ben Shapiro.[citation needed] He is part of the Harvard class of 2026.[10]
In August 2021, Aidan was infected with COVID-19.[11]
