Curtis Roach is a Detroit-based Rapper from Detroit, Michigan who is known for the song "Bored in the House" during pre-2020 era of TikTok.
Personal life[]
Curtis Roach was born on May 14, 1999, in Detroit, MI. Roach claims to have written his first rap in fourth grade, though it wasn't particularly good. His high school bandmates pooled their Christmas funds to purchase a microphone so he and his friends could begin recording. "Carcinogen" Roach's new album, confronts the seriousness of his parents' nicotine addiction. He says he has no plans to stop making music, only to make more of it. He dropped out of college last year to focus solely on music.[1]
His grandmother was a member of the R&B group Ruby & the Romantics, whose hit single "Our Day Will Come" was later covered by Amy Winehouse. Roach claims that his mother has a Berry Gordy connection, but he's not sure how.[1]
At 15, Curtis was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life and worried that he was running out of time. he had always enjoyed writing poetry and performing arts, but had never taken them seriously because he was afraid of being judged. Curtis didn't consider myself an artist, writer, or poet.[2]

December 2017 - 2019[]
Highly Caffeinated, Roach's debut mixtape, was released just months before his graduation from Cass Tech. Roach will make his festival debut at Detroit's Mo Pop Festival in less than a week. He'll be performing alongside Daniel Caesar, Brockhampton, Vince Staples, and Bon Iver. Roach "I used to sit back and watch other people get reviewed, but it's still getting to me. It's a huge accomplishment." Roach has long admired rappers Tyler the Creator and Chance the Rapper's work and style.[1]
Roach taps into an intimacy that most artists would label as autobiographical, but does so in a universal tone. Roach confronts the seriousness of his parents' nicotine addiction in "Carcinogen" and in "22" he speaks to his late father, referring to himself as a little cub. "I miss the simple days before we were popping pimples/ We sit and giggle, just clowning in class and breaking pencils."[1]
July 2019 to Present[]
On June 28, 2019, Curtis Roach self-released his new EP, Lellow. Highly Caffeinated, the 20-year-debut old's album, received positive reviews, but some critics complained that it was too rooted in past styles. He claims to have gained confidence and discovered a way to incorporate his nostalgia into more new experimental songs. Roach expresses optimism for the future and vows to remain self-sufficient.[3] "I met someone who does reiki, and she said my third chakra (yellow) was one of the strongest in my body," Curtis says.[4]
Curtis Roach's new EP, Luv Bug, was released on January 28, 2020. The four-song album is a gentle bouquet of tenderness that encourages us to let down our guard. "I was listening to it and thinking: 'Is everybody going to think I'm on some corny, simp shit?" Curtis says. He claims that basking in said love isn't a sign of weakness or shame; you can't ignore it. The title of rapper songwriter Lellow's new EP is Luv Bug. He says he was inspired by Ludacris and Missy Elliott, but music was a low-key subject he didn't want to discuss with others. His new EP, Luv Bug, is filled with romantic lyrics that he hopes will help him find his artistic voice. Alicia Keys' new album.[5] In March 2020, Curtis Roach posted a video on the social media app TikTok in March of himself freestyling about being bored at home. The video, titled "Bored in the House," has received over 40.6 million views and 5.7 million likes. Chance the Rapper, Janet Jackson, and Charli D'Amelio are among those who have used his audio in their videos.[6]
About two weeks after his original freestyled song went viral, Roach posted a follow-up video. "I'm glad you like my 'Bored in the House' and 'I'm in the House Bored' songs," Roach says in the video. Roach followed up with a full-length version of his song with Tyga about a week later. Roach says "I wake up every day and it's still like it's a new thing every day". A 17-year-old from Byron Center, Michigan, choreographed two dances to the song "Cars That Go Boom" by L'Trimm. Alexa Wollney's original dance has been viewed 19.9 million times and received 2.6 million likes. A tutorial she uploaded for the solo version of the song has 16 million views and 2.1 million likes in less than a week.[6]
