Dixie Jane D'Amelio (born August 12, 2001) (@dixiedamelio) is an American singer and internet personality, who achieved international recognition through the short video platform TikTok. She and her sister Charli are in the ranking of the most followed people on the platform. Dixie began her career shortly after Charli gained recognition.[1]

She rose to prominence by promoting various brands and even dabbled in acting. she was a member of the group The Hype House until May 2020,[1] and in June, she made her musical debut with the single Be Happy.[1][2][3][4][5] Wiz Khalifa collaborated with Dixie on her second song, One Whole Day.[6][7] Along with the rest of her family, she is currently under contract with HitCo Entertainment and the United Talent Agency.[1]

D'Amelio has over 57 million TikTok followers as of March, 2022, with her videos having over 3.2 billion likes. Her Instagram account, where she posts pictures and videos on a regular basis, has over 25 million followers.

Personal and Early Life[]

Dixie was born on August 12, 2001, in Norwalk.[8][9][10] She is the eldest of two sisters and her parents are Marc and Heidi D'Amelio.[11] Her mother is a former model and photographer and her father was a candidate for the Senate for the Republican Party.[12][13] His only sister, Charli, is also a tiktoker and a dancer. From a very young age, she showed a talent for singing and networking, although she came to TikTok after the success of his sister. During her school days she practiced track, field and lacrosse.[1]

D'Amelio has denied claims she has registered as a Republican and her sister, fellow TikTok star Charli D'Amelio has not shared her political party affiliation. Dixie confirmed her relationship with social media personality Noah Beck in October 2020. Previously, she was in a long-term relationship with Griffin Johnson.

Dixie and Charli had never been in a relationship before they went to the same high school. After Charli changed schools, the two sisters' lives were reconciled and grew much closer.[14]

Dixie has stated that she used to have a lot of concussions, and was thus put on medication which effected her mood and personality. Dixie eventually weaned herself off the medication, transferred to a new school, and "got my life together," as she put it. She also apologized to Charli for her behavior during a period when she wasn't herself.[14]

Career[]

2015 - April 2020: Debut on Instagram, Hype House & Mistle Tok Meet-Up[]

Dixie D'Amelio first gained prominence through her Instagram account, which she launched in 2015. Her charming personality and stunning appearance quickly drew a sizable fan base on the social media platform.[1] Dixie and her sister Charli frequently appear on each other's social media pages. Their uncanny resemblance is a popular topic of conversation on social media. Despite the fact that they are not twins, the sisters appear to be identical.[15]

Dixie D'Amelio has amassed a massive fan base on Instagram, However, she chose TikTok, a popular platform for sharing short videos among netizens. She quickly surpassed a million followers on her TikTok account. D'Amelio began posting dance videos as well as random interactive videos for her followers. In her videos, she is frequently seen with her sister. D'Amelio amassed over 8 million followers in a year after joining TikTok.[1]

Because of her fame, she was invited to the Mistle Tok Meet-Up in Greenwich, Connecticut. D'Amelio and her sister met many TikTok stars at the event.[16][17][18]

Dixie and her sister joined the creative group The Hype House at the end of 2019, which was founded by Chase Hudson, Thomas Petrou, and Nick Austin. Mia Hayward, Angel Herrera, the Lopez brothers, Kouvr Annon, Madi Monroe, Alex Warren, and Jack Wright are also members of the group. Many members have left or are no longer active in the group. The sisters announced their departure in May 2020; it was most likely motivated by Hudson's deception, who was Charli's boyfriend until April of the same year.[1][19]

May 2020 - September 2020: Deal with Ramble, Be Happy & One Whole Day[]

Also, in fact, Dixie D'Amelio's career skyrocketed after her younger sister, Charli, became famous on TikTok. She and her sister announced a new podcast deal with Ramble Podcast Network in May 2020.[20][21][22] On June 26, 2020, she released her first single, "Be Happy",[4][5] About the song, Dixie said in a press release:

"I wanted to share the honesty of this message with others, especially those around my own age ... I remain so grateful for the people that surround me and the opportunities I’ve been given, but some days, as we all know, it’s not easy to be happy. My hope is that anyone who listens can be reminded that it’s okay to feel what we feel. It’s okay have a bad day. We all have them and you are not alone."[23]

On July 1, 2020, she released the music video for the song on YouTube. it's amassed over 44 million views. When it was released, Dixie's music vid was the "number one trending YouTube video in the world right now, passed Kanye West and Travis Scott's new song, and got, like, 10 million views in a day" according to fellow TikTok star Griffin Johnson (more on him later).[23]

As of November 18, the song had received over 55.6 million Spotify streams. Her acting credits include appearances on the Brat TV show Attaway General.[23][24]

D'Amelio earned $2.9 million from her numerous sponsorship deals and merchandise in the last year through June, making her the third highest-earning TikTok star. She signed a record deal with L.A. Reid's label HitCo Entertainment on August 7, 2020.[25][26][27] Her second single, "One Whole Day" featuring Wiz Khalifa, was released two months later.[6][7]

In September 2020, Dixie D'Amelio posted a series of screenshots over her ex-boyfriend Griffin Johnson's song "Convenient" The screenshots depicted alleged conversations between Griffin and various women he'd contacted while still with D'Amelio. Griffin stated in the messages, "I completely own up to it and know that I have done wrong and that I have hurt you in a way that can never be forgiven or forgotten."[28]

January 2021 - Present: Deleting Twitter Account, Social Tourist, Squeaky and Roy & Stand Up To Cancer[]

In January 2021, Dixie D'Amelio announced that she will be deleting Twitter after being a "Trump Supporter", Dixie did delete her Twitter Account after Donald Trump's account was deleted. As for the actual reason behind her deletion, Dixie posted about it on her Instagram story not much longer after. “I’ve said it 100 fucking times… the reason I deleted Twitter was because I spend way too much time reading hate,” she said, adding that her timing in doing so was “just awful.” She also followed that up with another post, asking: “Hate me but talk about every move I make… okay?”[29][30][31][32][33]

Hollister Co. the global teen retail brand, launched Social Tourist, a new trend-forward apparel brand, last month. Dixie and Charli would debut their next product launch with a one-of-a-kind fashion show on Charli D'Amelio's TikTok channel, @charlidamelio, on June 16 at 9 P.M. ET.[34]

Social Tourist, the fashion brand founded by Charli and Dixie D'Amelio, has announced the debut of its Volume 2 collection fashion show in 15 June. The TikTok-streamed event will only be available to watch live on TikTok. Charli is a fan of the platform, having previously been invited to Chanel and Prada shows.[35]

On June 21, 2021, Charli and Dixie D'Amelio introduced the cartoon characters "Squeaky and Roy". Squeaky, the main character, is named after Dixie's long-time favorite stuffed animal of the same name. Charli and Dixie D'Amelio say they are "happier with how Squeaky and Roy turned out". The family and a company that creates original cartoon intellectual property for social media collaborated on the creation of the cartoon. The sisters' parents, Charli and Heidi, said they enjoy spending time together and seeing their daughters' passion come to life.[36] On June 25, Celebrity Family Feud's "D'Amelio Family vs. Siwa" episode aired.

On the same month, Charli D'amelio and her family members competed for Stand Up To Cancer as Team D'Amelio. Tom, Jessalynn, Jayden, and Miranda Siwa, members of JoJo Siwa's family, played for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. JoJo's team won the money prize but the D'Amelio family also received some money as compensation for appearing and playing the game. A match between Team Loni Love and Team Ross Matthews was also be included in the two-game broadcast.[37][38]
