Personal life[]
Khaby Lame is Italian-Senegalese. According to BroBible, Khabane Lame was born in Senegal, Africa. He then moved to Chivasso, Italy. His height is 6 feet 1 inch tall.[4] His weight is 65 kg.[5]
Lame described himself as a soccer fanatic, with his favorite team being Juventus F.C. of Turin, Italy. He also named Eddie Murphy and Will Smith as two of his biggest influences, telling [[wikipedia:The New York Times |The New York Times]] that he aspires to be at their level of comedy one day.[2]
Career[]
Lame's first videos, which date back to March 2020, were a mix of dance parodies, such as doing the "woah" while soaping his hands, and random meme skits, such as pretending to DJ with chess pieces.[6] He rose to prominence through his comedic expressions and reaction videos, which frequently show him gazing into the camera with an odd expression or sarcastically providing an easy answer to a difficult issue without saying anything. He breaks the fourth wall by looking at the camera, almost like TikTok's version of Jim Halpert from "The Office" who served as the sitcom's straight man.[2]
"It's my face and my facial expressions that make people laugh," he explained to The New York Times, adding that he believes his facial expressions provide a "global language". One video shows a person grasping a cherry and removing its stem with an elaborate clipping device. The scene then shifts to Lame sitting on a train, holding two cherries in front of him. He grabs one, turns to face the camera, and yanks on the stem. He pops the cherry into his mouth while slowly shaking his head as if to say, "How easy was that?"[2][7]
Another video with 50 million views begins with a fast-food employee dashing to a car to deliver a heaping tray of drinks and meals. The man slams into the window, spilling the platter all over the place. The scene then cuts to Lame, who has a few fries stuck to his cheeks and is shaking his head at the camera with a stony expression on his face. He swipes away the fries, glares, and then slowly scrolls up the window.[2][8]
One major reason for Lame's unexpected success appears to be how his videos differ from those of top creators such as Addison Rae and Charli D'Amelio. Whereas many big video makers use high-quality cameras, enticing music, and meticulous lighting, Lame avoids these influencer cliches. His videos are frequently calm and alluringly realistic. Lame frequently sits in front of the camera rather than performing ultra-smooth dance moves or entrancing transition skills. He doesn't bother optimizing the lighting, using color filters, or editing his videos at all, lending an air of authenticity.[2]
Lame's popularity has grown to the point where fan compilations titled "Khaby Lame BEST TikToks" and "Funniest Khabane Lame Compilation" have each surpassed 10 million views on YouTube. He has tens of thousands of followers on his Instagram fan accounts. There's also a Reddit forum dedicated to sharing information about him, with nearly 1,000 members.[2][9]
Lame is Italy's first TikTok account to gain over a million new followers in 30 days. If he keeps growing at this rate, he could surpass Charli D'Amelio as the most popular TikToker of all time by mid-August. "I'm happy to be the first in Italy and all, but I didn't start TikTok for this" Lame says.[2] His most liked video has over 37.1 million likes along with 267 million views.[1] According to Social Blade, his account received 33,400,020 followers in June alone.[10]
He surpassed Gianluca Vacchi to become the most-followed Italian TikToker on April 26, 2021.[11] Lame now has more than 40 million Instagram followers, surpassing Chiara Ferragni as the most followed Italian on the Instagram platform as well.[12]
Colombian singer J Balvin announced the release of his new song "In da Guetto" on Instagram. The song's cover artist is none other than TikToker Khaby Lame. In less than 24 hours, the image received over a million "likes" and thousands of comments.[13]
Net Worth[]
Khaby Lame's net worth is unknown because he is still relatively new to TikTok. According to Influencer Marketing Hub, Khaby's earnings per TikTok post could range between $98,561 and $147,842.[4]
Khaby's net worth is estimated to be between $1 and $2 million by Celebs Life Reel. According to a report by Influencer Marketing Hub, TikTok stars can begin monetising their profiles once they reach a certain number of followers. According to the website, “companies have been known to pay $200 to $20,000 per branded video promoted by influencers, depending on the individual's level of influence.” According to the site, Khaby can earn between $50,461 and $84,102 for a social media post.[14]
