The Black Menaces (@blackmenaces) is an American TikTok account consisting of black students at the Brigham Young University (BYU). The account gained popularity for their series where they would ask students at the university for their opinion on various political subjects, such as same-sex marriage and Black Lives Matter.

Content & Popularity

The members have stated they created the account for the following reasons: to highlight a hardly-ever highlighted reality in a church institution, to bring awareness to the experience of black students at the university, to deal with trauma through humor, and to reform what the word menace means. In another video, they also state that they are against all forms of hate speech/bigotry.

The main videos on the account consist of videos asking students their opinions on societal/political topics, although they have also created other videos, such as seeing whether students recognize a picture of Rosa Parks.
