Welcome to Manual of Style page, a set of general rules that Articles should follow before creating one. If you are redirected here due to your article being deleted, that means your article have not followed some of the rules on this page. Manual of Style are rules in writing. Additional rules are listed here. A small guide on writing a new article also exists at How to write an article.

Notability

General

  • Use proper grammar in writing/creating articles by hand. Proper grammar includes:
    • The first letter of the first word in every sentence should be capitalized. (e.g: "Pudgywoke is a dog.")
    • When mentioning a list, please make sure to add serial comma.
  • Articles must be written in third-person, Users must substitute "you" with the noun "User".
  • Articles should aim directly at their fame on TikTok after their biography on other apps.
  • Using contractions is highly encouraged, for example, 'will not' can be shortened to won't.
  • Articles should be listed in appropriate categories. (e.g: TikTok is a product created by ByteDance, that means it should go to "" category) To add a category, simply add this code [[Category:(input here)]] at the end of any article.
    • That means there shouldn't be listing into non-existent categories, or the ones that are hidden, except with good reason.
  • It is highly discouraged to write an article about non-TikTokers whose popularity on TikTok does not differ from their popularity outside of TikTok or celebrities who did not gain popularity on TikTok, and the staff may even delete the article (e.g. the Danganronpa article focuses on audio clips from the franchise that have become popular on TikTok, and doesn't talk about the actual franchise itself.)
  • Articles must contain atleast a paragraph, along with an infobox ({{Infobox Users}}) if the article is about a user.
    • Please do not write any articles that contain less than what is mentioned in the previous rule.
    • Articles that contain under 1,500 bytes should be labeled with the template {{Stub}}. The template may also be added to articles over 1,500 bytes if you feel the need to do so.
    • Articles under 1,000 bytes will most likely end up getting deleted sooner or later, unless there is a specific reason not to delete the page
  • Do not copy and paste from other websites, write in your own words instead.
  • Do not plagiarize from other wikis.

Templates

  • Infobox Templates are a list of information of the subject, its code should be at the top of the source of an article. If you might have seen some broken or outdated infoboxes, then they shouldn't be used. Common templates are listed:
  • Stub Template is used to categorize short articles as "stub", it should be at the beginning of the source code before the Infobox and the first Quote itself.
  • Use Unsourced Template when the article doesn't cite any sources.

Quotes

  • Quotes should be in italic, not bold or CAPITALIZED.

Writing

Citations

A citation identifies the original source of an idea, information, or image that is referred to in a work for the reader. Citations are a short way to identify a published work and used to confirm evidence of the block of text. Here's an example of how to cite sources to show your reader that you've done thorough research:

Citations are made up of standard elements and usually contain all of the information needed to identify and track down publications, such as:

  • Author(s) name
  • URL
  • Website's name
  • Publish Date.

If you use an idea or information from another source, even if you put it in your own words, you must credit the source so the article is verifiable. Every block of texts should be cited with sources if able to. If some text is uncited, you should use {{citation needed}} to signify that the text has not been confirmed yet. You can also use Citation Generator to automatically generate elements on citations.

Spelling

Media

Images

Images added to articles should fit the following guidelines:

  • There should be an image caption to describe the image if necessary.
  • Images can be either displayed left or right, but it should be NOT displayed center.
    • The image should not be abstract.

Videos

  • When creating animated elements for a page, it is preferable to upload in MP4 rather than GIF.
    • Please upload videos with as high quality as possible.
  • Captions for the video is highly encouraged.
